Paradise Lost: an oasis of green in the city centre

Ecology and yoga classes at the Montanelli gardens

Milano has created in the the Indro Montanelli public gardens a fresh and colourful space called "Paradise lost" aimed at people staying in the city, either for work or or to spend their holidays. The area is open from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm until August 31st to adults and children for relaxation and wellbeing, as well as for learning and entertainment.

An existing playground has been turned into a tropical setting with palm trees and banana trees. In addition to ordinary games, children can take part in educational activities and watch theatre shows teaching them to appreciate and respect the environment. At weekends, the Municipal Police sets up a course for children who wish to learn more about the Highway Code.

As for adults, they can have fun and relax in the fitness area, where yoga and Tai Chi lessons and massages are carried out. "This year all the people who want to live the city's resources in a sustainable way have 'Paradise Lost'," said Maurizio Cadeo, the town councillor for parks and street furniture. "Respect for the environment and for open spaces, entertainment and relaxation: these are the main ingredients of the initiative." Admission is free.
