Triennale Design Museum is free in August

Rampello: this is a place for fun and relaxation

During the month of August Milano's Triennale Design Museum remains open and is free for all visitors. The Achille Castiglioni Studio Museum and the exhibition 'Made in Cassina' will also be free. Speaking of the initiative, the president of Triennale, Davide Rampello, underlined that "also this year Triennale represents a place for entertainment and relaxation both for Milanese and tourists."

The Design Museum, which opened in December 2007, is the first museum dedicated to design in Italy. Its goal is to build a dynamic environment, which involves the visitor emotionally. The history of Italian design is told by focusing on a specific theme (the first one being "What is Italian design?") that is due to change every 12 months, together with the setting and the objects on display.

Seven well-known Italian film directors helped to conceive the whole set up: Ermanno Olmi, Silvio Soldini, Antonio Capuano, Mario Martone, Davide Ferrario, Daniele Lucchetti and Pappi Corsicato. They shot seven videos portraying as many 'obsessions' connected with national design, like comfort and the relationship between luxury and the middle class.
