The best 'Milanese risotto' can be tasted at the Four Season

Chef Silvano Prada won the contest 'Giallo Milano'

The best 'Milanese risotto' is served at the restaurant of the centrally located hotel Four Season's and is cooked by chef Silvano Prada. This was decided by 'Giallo Milano', the contest organised by the magazine Ristorarte that awarded the tastiest 'yellow' (because of the saffron) rice, surely one of the city's most famous traditional recipes. The event's final stage involved 52 eateries, 12 of which outside the city.

On May 9th and 10th, a panel of gastronomic critics visited the restaurants that had entered the competition in order to try their rice dishes and give an assessments through marks. The comparison of the different evaluations allowed them to select the seven finalists, who challenged each other on Sunday at the Foundation Gianna Vivante e Sergio Jovinelli, in Corso Magenta.

The Four Season got 335 points, five more than the runner up, 'Osteria Pomiroeu' of Seregno (chef Giancarlo Morelli). Thanks to 314 points, the third place went to 'Vico della Torretta' of Sesto San Giovanni (chef Fabrizio Colzani). A special prize was given to chef Alessandro Rimoldi of Milano's 'El Brellin' for the 'best risotto of the day after', that is the most savoury interpretation of the leftover rice, as in the tradition of popular cuisine.

Not only did the experts make their choice: during the past three days, people who ate at the competing restaurants had the chance to taste the local risotto and become a member of the 'popular jury' which in autumn will award the 'People's award'.
