GREENAWAY'S PERFORMANCE ON ORIGINAL 'LAST SUPPER' ON JUNE 9TH

Only 400 people will be admitted

The much-awaited performance of Peter Greenaway on the original 'Last Supper' by Leonardo da Vinci will take place on June 9th. The date has been fixed, the dream will become true, but only for 300, at most 400 lucky spectators, who will have the chance to admire the talked about show of lights and sounds created by the English artist.

All the other art amateurs will have to content themselves with the famous masterpiece's clone. The copy set at Palazzo Reale has been winning so many plaudits from viewers during the first ten days of display that it will enliven the Sala delle Cariatidi for the whole summer, as the exhibition will officially go on until September 7th.

The Milanese public is appreciating the visionary work conceived by Greenaway, who perfectly embodies the new millennium image maker, who is able to mix the elements belonging to the cultural tradition with the potentials offered by new technologies. The Wales-born director has poured his love for Italy and its art, in particular the Renaissance one, in this masterpiece. "I prefer the big and complex works produced in that age because of their multifaceted characteristics" told Greenaway "One day, I'd like to launch a new project based on Michelangelo's 'The Last Judgment'".
