THREE DAYS OF DANCING TO CELEBRATE A UNIVERSAL ART

Teatro Arcimboldi hosts the debut of 'Des gens qui dansent'

"The spirit of dance has no colour, no selected shape or size, but embraces the power of unity, strength, and beauty found within us". This is a passage of the poem composed by the South African performer Gladys Faith Agulhas on occasion of the International Dance Day promoted by Unesco on April 29th. Dancing is a universal art and Milano celebrates it from the 27th with three days of events, shows and workshops carried out by prominent figures of the international scene.

On the 29th, the Teatro Arcimboldi hosts the Milanese debut of 'Des gens qui dansent' by Jean-Claude Gallotta, stand-out choreographer of the contemporary French panorama. Ten dancers of different ages for a show that is first of all a hymn to dancing, as an expression of true life and feelings. A unique initiative is also organised by the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, where director Frédéric Olivieri is teaching free lessons to aspiring dancers from 11 to 22 years old.

The feast gives space to non-traditional forms of dance too. For example on the 27th at the Fabbrica del Vapore UOVO Performing Arts Festival and Ariella Vidach present 'INTERvita', a multimedia performance that mixes spirituality and technology. The following day the Teatro Off houses the opening of 'Sonate Bach-Di fronte al dolore degli altri' (Bach's sonatas-In front of someone else's pain): 11 choreographies for as many tragic facts that marked the history of humanity, as to underline once again that dance is a representation of everybody's existence.
