From now on, during the month of May at the Triennale Bovisa will be synonym of meeting and fusion for different realities of contemporary - art, design, architecture and music. This is thanks to 'Mayo Bovisa' ('Mayonnaise Bovisa', but also, from the Spanish linguistic point of view, 'May Bovisa'), a new appointment that every year will focus on a specific subject. The initiative is promoted in collaboration with Milano's city committee for Sports and Leisure and with the Politecnico university, whose Bovisa headquarters are next to the building of the Triennale.
The first edition, 'Junkbuilding', will take place from May 9th to June 5th and will be dedicated to junk-space, the theory introduced by the Ducth architect Rem Koolhaas that defines the role of art in the post-modern age: "If space junk is the human debris that litters the universe, junkspace is the residue mankind leaves on the planet" wrote the author "It is what remains after modernization has run its course, or more precisely, what coagulates while modernization is in progress, its fallout. Modernization had a rational program: to share the blessings of science, universally. Junkspace is its apotheosis, or meltdown".
Thirty-three artists coming from various cultural and expressive fields will display their works: paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and videos will take up the exhibition site, whose main square will host concerts and shows too. As a matter of fact, the event bets on a union of artistic forms and genres and on the involvement of a heterogeneous public. The first live performances are scheduled on May 17th : on stage one after the other, are the Casino Royal Quartet, one of the most appreciated bands of the Italian scene, Gianluca Petrella, the international jazz genius who mixes trombone and electronic sampling, and Rajasful, the melting of percussions and cello by Dj Tayone and Bruno Brisick.
