FUORISALONE: THE CITY BECOMES THE HOUSE OF DESIGN AND CREATIVITY

Until next Monday, unusual settings for events and exhibitions

During the Saloni's week, from April 16th to 21st, Milano is completely pervaded by every form of design, as it enters every possible place (shops, restaurants, clubs) and transforms the city streets, both in the centre and in the suburbs. All the events that contribute to this metamorphosis create the so-called 'Fuori Salone', which in around ten years has become a must for the visitors of all ages.

Among the most lively neighborhoods is the Tortona one. A novelty of 2008 happening, the 'Temporary Museum for New Design' has been installed inside the Superstudiopiù headquarters: under the direction of architect Giulio Cappellini, the space has turned into a small town whose squares and alleys (Art square, Design square, Dada street) host the projects of top Italian and international artists.

The Triennale museum inaugurates some special exhibitions. 'Made in Cassina' is a journey into the production of the legendary company, which was bought by the Frau group in 2005. Gio Ponti is present as well with 'Reflets d'amitié. Gio Ponti et Christofle 1925-2008)', a vision on the meeting between the known Milanese architect and designer and Tony Bouilhet, who was Christofle's owner and director of Paris Exposition Internationale des Art Decoratifs in 1925. This collaboration gave birth to 25 silver pieces conceived between 1925 and 1978.

The Fabbrica del Vapore in Procaccini street houses the 5th edition of 'Posti di vista 08', 14 events that describe design by using different artistic languages: architecture, photography, videos, dance and contemporary art. At the same time, an initiative explains the sustainable living through a campaign that promotes eco-design, a criterion of design that aims to minimize the environmental impact of the product's entire life cycle.
