TEATRO DAL VERME: MUSICAL ANNIVERSARY FOR THE STATE OF ISRAEL

Shlomo Mintz conducts the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva

A musical tribute to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel. Tomorrow at 9 p.m., the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva holds a concert at Teatro Dal Verme under the direction of Shlomo Mintz, who is also the lead violin. The event has been set up by the association Serate Musicali and the Milanese Hebrew community. The program includes musics by Felix Mendelssohn and Ben Haim. In particular, as for the former the Ouverture Op.26 'The Hebrides' and the Symphony No. 4 in A major, known as the 'Italian'. As for the latter, the 'Psalm' of the Symphony No.1, 2nd movement.

The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva was founded 35 years ago as an orchestra in the service of Beer Sheva city's music amateurs, but gradually it has achieved the international success too. Nowadays, it symbolizes and portrays Israel's pioneer spirit. Its musicians, who were either born in Israel or are immigrants (both of old and new generation), constitute a sophisticated ensemble, whose technique and creativity offer the listener a unique experience.

51-year old Shlomo Mintz, who was born in Moscow and flew to Israel with his family at the age of two, is considered as one of the most important contemporary violinists. His appraised versatility and musicality has allowed him to perform with many famous orchestras and international directors all over the world. His talent has also been recognised by prestigious awards, such as the 'Premio Accademia Musicale Chigiana' of Siena, the 'Diapason d'Or', the 'Grand Prix du Disque', the 'Gramophone Award' and the 'Edison Award'.
