One of the famous muses of Ingmar Bergman describes the Swedish genius: actress Bibi Andersson's testimony opens on March 31st (9 p.m.) at Piccolo Teatro Strehler, featuring the event "Faro su Bergman". The latter is promoted by Milano City Council's authority for Culture which, presented it yesterday at Palazzo Marino. The initiative, directed by Pier Giorgio Carizzoni and the cultural association Dioniso, offers until April 22nd an articulated program showing Bergman's multifaceted art by examining all the fields of his activities, from the debut to the recent death. The title of the Milanese initiative refers explicitly to the beloved island in the Baltic Sea, Faro, where he died on July, 30th 2007, at the age of 89. Andersson will read some pieces from the masters' works. Besides, the movie "Persona" will be projected in its original version and with Italian subtitles. On April 13th Harriet Andersson, an other interpret loved by the director, will answer the public's questions. From April 1st, the film exhibition "Il mio Bergman" will offer some of the most known titles - from "Prigione" to "Il posto delle fragile" and "Fanny e Alexander" - and creations quite new for the Italian audience.
On Wednesday 9th at Terrazza Martini the unpublished books "Tre diari", the author's spiritual testament, will be presented, while on Saturday 12th Teatro Litta will host the meeting "Bergman: regista di cinema, regista di teatro", which will focus on his production in the two different areas. The event's epilogue, on Tuesday 22nd at Teatro Studio, is marked by the theatrical performance "Alle soglie della vita", taken from the work "Alle soglie della vita/Nara Livet", by Ingmar Bergman and Ulla Isaksson: on the stage the Compagnia Teatri Possibili Liguria under the direction of Sergio Maifredi. Bergman was born in the Swedish city of Uppsala in 1918. His production is extraordinary: 91 theatrical directions, 49 directions and 13 scripts for cinema, 16 TV directions, 12 for radio, 12 lyrical operas, around 15 books and many advertising campaigns.
The Scandinavian genius, who was educated according to the Lutheran principles, theorized and put in practice the mixture of different genres and he could alternate both the works in theatres and on cinema sets . "Bergman was a philosopher - claimed Vittorio Sgarbi, Milano's councilor for Culture - who managed to express his thoughts through the cinema, a communications medium which is direct and effective".
