CULTURE WEEK: PALACES AND MUSEUMS OPEN THEIR DOORS

From Palazzo Litta to Brera: Milano's treasures in the spotlight

From March 25th to 31st, the artistic heritage opens its doors to the public for the 10th edition of Italy's 'Culture week'. Milano joins the initiative and offers a tight schedules of events with tour guides, meetings and conferences.

As for tours, a very peculiar one allows citizens to know Palazzo Litta better. Every day until next Monday an actor into the shoes of a butler tells the history and the splendors of the 18th century-palace. Visits last 45 minutes and booking is required. The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie deserves to be rediscovered after redecorations: until March 29th, the recovery of the left aisle and its frescos is presented by experts. On Sunday, 'Castelli e ville aperti' promotes the treasures of Lombardia's art: for example, Villa Borromeo Visconti Litta, in Lainate, will be open and the tour around its frescos' rooms and of the Ninfeo is free.

Museums' suggestions are interesting too: today at 6 p.m. the Archaeological Museum offers a free presentation of the two new itineraries: one on the ancient Milanese society seen through epigraphs, the other on life in Roman Mediolanum. On Thursday at 6 p.m. Milano's Galleria d'arte moderna proposes the reading of Foscolo's poetic work 'I Sepolcri', while next Monday the Pinacoteca di Brera (which will be open daily with free entrance) hosts an important convention on modern art's redecoration.
