Everybody is ready for Stramilano. The traditional half marathon of Milano is a huge tradition for the city. "This event characterizes our culture", said Irma Dioli, Sport Councellor of Provincia di Milano. The edition number 37 will take place on 6th of April and city Administration organized an event to present this year's marathon.

Everything is settled up for the Stramilano day: starting from piazza Duomo, the event will embrace the entire city. With up to 50,000 runners from one hundred countries, Stramilano ranks among the most important international events in the field. The Stramilano Agonistica Internazionale, for top athletes - a competitive race over 21,097 km - starting from Piazza Castello at 10:45am; the proper Stramilano dei 50.000 over 12 km, starts from Piazza Duomo at 9am, while Stramilanina for kids, over 6 km, one hour later from the same square. More than 300 policeman will be involved in the event.

Testimonial of the Stramilano is the famous Italian singer Gianni Morandi: his passion for races started about ten years ago. "In 1998 I wanted to run the New York marathon, but just for fun", says Morandi. "Now running is my passion". Morandi will run at the Stramilano for the first time: "I signed up four years ago but I had to give up because of a problem with my left leg". "We are happy to host the most loved competition among Italian runners", said Giovanni Terzi, Sport Councilor at Milano Council. "It is a very important race: since its foundation in 1972, one and a half million people participated at the event".
