ITALIAN CRAFTS AND FASHION CONQUEST CANADA

A pact promotes economic relations between the two countries

Yesterday Milano's Municipality signed a convention with Toronto's Italian Chamber of Commerce. The agreement was stipulated by the Italian consul in Toronto Emanuele Punzo, deputy mayor Joe Pantalone, the Chamber's President Nivo Angelone and Milano's councillor to Productive Activities Tiziana Maiolo. The deal involves many initiatives to support crafts and fashion. In general, it aims to help those businessmen who want to invest in Canada and need specific knowledge and instruments in doing so.

Milano's Municipality will open a front office and an operational office in the Canadian city to give information to all the potential investors. This is the second convention between Milano and Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad in support of small companies: last year a partnership with New York was successfully launched. The visit in the north-American country was also a unique opportunity for eight students of Milano's fashion schools to show their work during Toronto Fashion Week.

The six collections that were presented to buyers and possible investors have been totally realized by Italian firms. Besides, a group of Canadian future stylists selected by the Fashion Design Council of Canada will have the chance to train their skills in some of Milano's fashion institutes like the Ied, Naba, Carlo Secoli and Domus Academy thanks to scholarships supplied by the town Municipality.
