A stadium which becomes a theatre for a concert, welcoming the public in a warm atmosphere without reducing the fans' enthusiasm: a dream which will come true on June 14th in the San Siro stadium. The Meazza will be transformed into the biggest theatre in the world for the only Italian date of his world tour "All the Best World Tour 2008", which will begin April 7th in Germany and will continue all over Europe. Among the most important dates, is at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 18th.
"I felt like coming back" Zucchero said, "given my last success, and I work well with the same band, which this time will have three extra sounds. The world tour follows the success of "All the Best", the double CD which came out on November 23rd all over the world, with more dates for the public. The San Siro concert will open the second part of the tour, which will go on until the end of July in the major rock festivals.
The third part of the concert, from mid September to December will continue in the United States, Cananda, South America, Australia and Japan. "Some things will change from the Fly Tour, I want to sing songs I never sung before or that were played only one time, which were not singles" Zucchero said. "Songs like Miss Mary, which I did with Elvis Costello in Miserere, o Pene". The style will be more concentred on rock and blues with new "rough" sounds.
For the June 14th concert, the San Siro stadium will become a real theater, with orchestra seating and other numbered seats. The area can hold more than 30,000(thirty thousand) people, even if the singer said he doesn't want to put a limit on numbers. "To go on I need something stimulating and different. I hope the theater idea will work. It's the first time, and that's nice because of the adrenalin caused by the risk factor". He got the idea last year, when dancing in the Verona Arena became a real party for the public.
The theater idea will not keep the public from having a good time." My public is a slightly refined, it's not made up of wild people, it needs comfort. Knowing that you can sit down, you have a greater desire to stand: plus at my concerts it's never happened that people want to stay seated" . The third tier of the stadium will be closed to the public and special sound devices will be inserted to assure that the sound remains in the stadium, explained Giovanni Terzi, responsible for the "Tempo Libero" (free time) for the city of Milano.
For the new tour, there will be a space reserved to commemorate the late tenor Luciano Pavarotti. "He's always with me when I sing the songs I sang with him. I will do "Misere" with him on stage, and will see how the audience reacts, I think it will be a very strong moment." Zucchero loves Italy, even if on the tour he balances the Italian dates with the foreign ones. "It's the only country to live in: you can't replace the provinces. I am happy here and I have fun." He also loves the new young Italian talents, who have ever more difficulty emerging. Today television is the launching pad for the business, but Zucchero has another idea for finding young talents: "One has to do like hunting dogs, one has to go to the outskirts of the cities and look for the groups who really work hard. There you are able to see who is genuine and who has something to say, and not someone who simply tries to be a singer. These are all alike and without personality. Music is a whole different story."
