Nineteen square metres of green for every citizen. This is the aim that Milano intends to achieve by 2008 through the requalification and the redesign of the town public spaces. By 2015 the square metres per citizen will be over 30, thanks to the development of the project "Città Verde", which is a key part of the bigger Government's Territorial Plan.
This morning at the Urban Center of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele Carlo Masseroli, City Councillor for Territorial Development, Maurizio Cadeo, City Urban Councillor, and architects Andreas Kipar and Andrea Boschetti talked about urban redevelopment and green spaces designed for citizens.
T"he project - explains Cadeo - is an instrument that grows together with the organization and the evolution of the city. One of our goals is to remove all the barriers and the fences surrounding public spaces, as we will do in the area of the old Exhibition Centre".
The object of the plan is to create a more ecological city, where big parks of the metropolitan area are connected with the remaining agricultural areas. "I hope that citizens - adds Masseroli - will have the possibility to take advantage of all the green areas they have."
