Mayor Letizia Moratti and Jacques Attali, president of association PlanetFinance, today signed a cooperation deal to promote and support micro credit projects. "This is a very important experience for our Municipality - Moratti said - because if the city hosts Expo 2015 we will be able to create a fund which could offer credit to a lot of developing countries. We want to support PlanetFinance offering technical assistance, formation and loans for rural development thus contrasting urban poverty".

Today Moratti and Attali talked about another project, called "Finance Cite", which will extend micro credit to young people in Milano. "Our deal with the city is very important - Attali said - and I hope that, after the success of Milano's Expo candidacy , we will be able to develop new activities in developing countries. With Expo Milano, the city can offer the world not only it's own image, but also a concrete help to render other cities as beautiful as Milano is".

Attali has been nominated President of the Commission for the liberation of French economic growth by the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy. PlanetFinance is an organization of international solidarity specialised in microfinance: it supports these financial intermediaries and increases their growth by federating them and providing operational services which enable them to strengthen their technical capacities and financial resources. Today PlanetFinance helps 150 million people in 70 countries all over the world through 10.000 micro financial institutes.
