More than 100 theatre shows, meetings with writers, conversations and debates about politic and current events: for three months Milano will host the first "low cost" Festival, dedicated to the discovery of Italian identity. At Franco Parenti Theatre, from today until the 31st of May, "Racconto Italiano",will take place, an event that will offer special 5 Euro tickets for the shows.
"Our goal - says Andrée Ruth Shammah, director and chief of Franco Parenti Theatre - is to create a theatre dedicated to the people. We want to make people think, but also feel new emotions with our representations". The director thinks that "the separation between intellectual and popular theatre is not good for us. What is important is making the theatre accessible for everybody".
The Festival has a very rich programe: in the brand new hall of Franco Parenti a lot of Italian representations will take place. For example, the young actor and writer Davide Enia with his "I capitoli dell'infanzia" (Childhood chapters), or Eleonora Danco with "Sabbia" (Sand) and Sabina Negri with "L'ultima radio" (The last radio). The Festival will also host a lot of meetings with important writers such as Valeria Parrella, Antonio Scurati and Giulia Carcasi. They will meet the audience talking about the secrets of everyday life.
This project is sponsored not only by Milano Municipality, but also from two big Italian enterprises: Pirelli and Intesa-San Paolo. "We don't feel just like sponsors - says Antonio Calabrò, Director of Institutional Affairs and External Relations of the Pirelli Group - because we are real partners of the initiative. We contribute to the very low price of tickets and, doing this, we can allow people to come to the theatre who normally would not be able to so".
