A NEW RESEARCH CENTER AT BICOCCA TO STUDY PARTICLES POLLUTION

Polaris will investigate impact of pollution on human health

The Milano University of Bicocca has presented the new research center "Polaris" (Polveri in Ambiente e Rischio per la Salute) which aims at better investigating the impact of the particles in the air on human health. The center is part of the Environment and Territory Science department of the University.

Various researches and scientists have given their support to the initiative: professor Marina Camatini, director of the Polaris center and lecturer in Cell Biology at the Bicocca University; Adriano De Maio, Research undersecretary for Lombardia Region; Giancalo Cesana, director of the Prevention Clinic Department; Antonio Imperatore, managing director FAI Instruments and Carlo Giglioni, managing director of Contec Engineering.

"The objective of the new center is to bring together results coming from different research fields that focus on health, environment and energy" said De Maio.

The Polaris Research Center will also supervise government environmental policies. Among sponsors of the new site are Provincia di Milano, ELASTRADE, FAI Instruments, Shimadzu Italia, SRA Instruments Italia and Contect Engineering.

Final goal of the center will be the promotion of research projects, both national and international, and of seminars, talks and round tables, in addition to the integration and confrontation of research results coming from the different areas.
