CITY'S RESOURCES CREATE THE FUTURE GOVERNING CLASS

Università Cattolica is launching a new international master

"Milano is a rich source of social, financial and entrepreneurial forces, more than it is commonly thought of". Lorenzo Ornaghi, chancellor of the Università Cattolica, uses these words to describe the city and its resources in a letter published on the "Corriere della Sera", the most influential Italian newspapers. According to Ornaghi, Milano must encourage its international vocation in order to play a key role in the world scenario and in the global system.

A pivotal role can be carried out by universities, which have to train a creative and cohesive governing class. The new international project launched by the Università Cattolica at the Alta scuola Impresa e Società (Altis) reflects this idea. Thanks to scholarships offered by Regione Lombardia, the Camera di Commercio of Milano and some companies of Lombardia, 33 young people coming from 16 Nations and 4 continents, all graduates and a few with some work experience, have been chosen to attend the Masters "New Markets & Europe", in Milan. The course has been developed with prestigious universities of emerging markets as the Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) of Chennai, India, and the Zhejiang University of Hangzhou, China.

The Masters can represent an opportunity for those companies wanting to develop their business in the emerging countries' market. Besides, students will go back to their countries after acquiring new professional skills. Finally, universities' prestige will grow thanks to the strengthening of international relations.
