SUPER LUXURY JEWELLERY ARRIVES IN MILANO

"About J": first top list jewels fair from 2 to 4 of March

Three days of business and celebration of a very special word: jewels. Milano welcomes first international fair of top list jewellery, "About J", which will take place from the 2nd to the 4th of March 2008 in the Superstudio Più area. The event, organised by Fiera di Vicenza, has invited 150 international buyers and some 350 Italian top retailers to see only selected exhibitors: 60 Italian brands and 20 international enterprises.

The fair is dedicated to the best of what's offered and what's in demand, nationally and internationally, in the world of jewels: a selection of the supreme Italian and international brands, the top worldwide retail and the most qualified international operators will reunite for the first time in Milano. "We want to launch fashion jewels - says Maurizio Castro, Fiera Vicenza's general director - which is the only way to escape from the economical crisis in the sector". "Jewel now are more sophisticated and personal - comments Castro - and we want to invest in it to avoid Indian, Chinese and Turkish concurrence". The fair will host a lot of important enterprises such as Fabio Salini, a roman jeweller loved by Rania, the Jordan queen. More than 300 policemen will protect 80 million euros worth of "About J" products.

But the fair will also be an important occasion to animate Milano's city life with a lot of collateral events. In the evening of the 2nd of March, an important inauguration will take place: the photographic exhibition of Giovanni Gastel, one of the best Italian photographers. In Solari street, Como road and Spiga street there will be an exposition of pictures, taken by Gastel, exclusively for "About J" to interpret the union between jewels and Milano's symbols, such as the Dome or the Cotoletta. Following the exhibition launch, the evening will be dressed with lights and sounds thanks to the famous artist Jean Michel Jarre. The French composer, a myth in electronic music, will perform in Palazzo del Ghiaccio, in Piranesi street, to celebrate the sparkling world of jewels.
