The widest and most comprehensive exhibition on the life and the works of American photographer Richard Avedon, four years after his death. Beggining today it takes place at the "Centro internazionale di Fotografia", "Forma" in Milano.
The inauguration was hosted by Donatella Versace: "I worked together with Avedon for 18 years and I will never thank Gianni enough for this privilege. To me it was an immense and unlimited source of inspiration" said fashion designer referring to her late brother.
"Richard Avedon. Fotografie 1946-2004", is the name of the exhibit: 250 images altogether on display until June 8th. A journey through his different styles and periods, from his debut in the neo-realist realm with accounts on Palermo and Rome to his revolutionary fashion photography. Model Verushka dancing in front of the lens, Charlie Chaplin's funny faces are just a couple of the photographs on exhibit which convey all Avendon's creativity.
"Whatever he was portraying he had the capacity to pull out charisma and personality. It is an exceptional event - said Robert Koch, president of Contrasto, who has organized the exhibition - because visitors will be able to see some of the most rare works of art of Avedon".
Curator Alessandra Mauro added: "The exhibit not only traces Avedon's evolution; it also highlights time passing and the signs this leaves on people's faces".
Besides normal visiting hours, the exhibition will be also open to the public in the evening both on Thursday and Friday up to 10 P.M..
