The final rush for the Expo 2015 bid has entered its final stage and today Milano Mayor, Letizia Moratti will seek new consensus during her speech at the Un premises in New York.
The opening message will be delivered by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, then Mrs Moratti will outline Milano's efforts in reducing Co2 emissions, starting from the newly introduced ecopass, the transit pass necessary to enter the city center introduced at the beginning of 2008.
Moratti will also stress other important recent initiatives: the launch of the "Mayor's Pact" an alliance sealed between Mayors of European cities on environment, renewable energy and energetic efficiency issues, and Slimcity, an exchange sealed between cities and the private sector to support action on resource efficiency.
Supported by Nobel winner and former vice president of the United States Al Gore, who praised Milan for being "one of the most earth friendly cities in Europe and in the whole world", Mrs Moratti will then head for Washington where tomorrow she will be signing an agreement with the Development Interamerican Bank. The latter being aimed at increasing projects to boost Caribbean country's economies, some of which will cast their vote in Paris on the 31st of March.
Moratti's world tour will then continue: she is expected in Australia, in South Korea and perhaps even in Saudi Arabia.
