Eighty years have gone by since "Domus" was first published in January 1928. The Italian design and architecture magazine, printed both in Italian and English, has always been a promoter and frontrunner of new artistic trends and styles. The February edition celebrates its 80th birthday and the works of its founder, Gio Ponti, who was an architect, poet, painter and industrial designer, and godfather of Italy's post war renaissance.
Through the works of twelve internationally renowned artists such as Pablo Bronstein, Jeff Burton, Martino Gamper, Arturo Herrera, Mimmo Jodice and Luisa Lambri, to name but a few, the special issue of "Domus" embarks on a journey through the most significant projects of Gio Ponti; resulting in ballet dancers posing in front of the Torre del Parco of Milano, or drawings which portray characters inspired to Ponti's creativity.
"The objective of this special edition is to recall and evoke Gio Ponti's art without the typical rhetoric" explained director of "Domus" Flavio Albanese, during the press conference for the presentation of the magazine, which was held in the Pirelli building, premises of the Regione Lombardia, and one of the works of Ponti.
In addition "Domus" has organized, for the third and fourth week end of February, two itineraries through some of the creations of Ponti in Milano: Clinic Columbus, Palazzo Montedoria, Torre Littoria, just to name a few.
